During the era of CONvid-1984, we discovered that Dr. Anthony Fauci was responsible for the deaths of thousands of children that were linked to his illegal experiments in New York City, along with cruelties to animals that involved monkeys and dogs.  Though there was some outrage over the discovery, Fauci was never indicted, arrested or prosecuted.  He was merely allowed to retire with a huge payout at the expense of the American people.  However, President Trump’s ‘bull in the china shop’ friend, Elon Musk, has a sorted past with killing monkeys in his on Franken-science experiments concerning Neuralink.

Of course, he also has shown monkeys playing ‘Pong’ with their minds, too.

However, these experiments involved cruelty to these animals.

Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine pointed out these cruelties.

Since 2017, Elon Musk’s company Neuralink has subjected animals—including monkeys, pigs, rats, and sheep—to invasive, often deadly brain experiments.

Through 2020, the company paid $1.4 million to the University of California, Davis, to use its facilities, where experimenters removed portions of monkeys’ skulls to implant electrodes in the animals’ brains as part of Neuralink’s development of a “brain-machine interface.” Only in 2022, following a public records lawsuit by the Physicians Committee, did the troubling details of these experiments begin to come to light. The company is still conducting experiments on animals at its facilities in California and Texas.

Noninvasive Brain-Machine Interfaces Are the Future

Devices implanted in the brain come with a myriad of problems, including difficulty of repair and a high potential for severe medical complications. In comparison, noninvasive BMIs can allow for the risk-free monitoring of large-scale neuronal activity across the entire brain. 

While Neuralink continues its invasive, painful, deadly experiments, noninvasive methods—which often rely on brain signals read using an electroencephalogram (EEG)—are already changing patients’ lives and hold even greater promise:

• Noninvasive BMIs can improve quality of life for older adults and elderly patients. They “have been used for restoring memory and planning using electromagnetic stimulation and biofeedback that modulate activity in a patient’s brain as part of a rehabilitation program….Moreover, invasive [BMIs] that require implantation of the device might be a serious ethical issue. Therefore, non-invasive EEG-based [BMIs]…appear to be the most promising technologies.”
• They can translate brain activity into intelligible speech using functional magnetic resonance imaging.
• They can “assist paralyzed patients by providing access to the world without requiring surgical intervention.”
• They can allow patients with limited mobility to control robotic arms. “[Invasive BCIs] require a substantial amount of medical and surgical expertise to correctly install and operate, not to mention cost and potential risks to subjects…”
• They can allow patients with severe tetraplegia to control a wheelchair.
• Noninvasive BMIs can also allow people to communicate directly using a computer, and research is being done to improve this capability.
• Researchers in China have developed a noninvasive BMI that can be worn in the ear.

The development of noninvasive BMIs should be the focus of innovation, and there is clearly much discussion in support of moving in that direction. Neuralink should halt its animal experiments immediately and invest in human-relevant research.

The Committee went on to state, “The public records revealed that Neuralink and UC Davis staff failed to provide dying monkeys with adequate veterinary care; used a substance known as ‘BioGlue,’ which was not approved for use in these experiments and has been widely known to be toxic to nerve tissue; and failed to provide for the psychological well-being of monkeys assigned to the experiment. Macaque monkeys used in the experiment were caged alone, had steel ‘pill boxes’ screwed to their skulls, and suffered ‘facial trauma,’ seizures following brain implants, and recurring infections at implant sites. In some cases, Neuralink and UC Davis euthanized monkeys because their health deteriorated so much.”

“While Neuralink is no longer working with UC Davis, it is still conducting experiments on animals at its facilities in California and Texas, and the Physicians Committee is still engaged in a lawsuit to get access to photos and videos of these experiments,” the Committee wrote.  “Please ask Neuralink to end these cruel experiments and release the photos and videos!”

Keep in mind that Elon Musk has denied the monkey deaths, but his company has confirmed that monkeys died in the experimentation and denied any animal cruelty.  That is utter nonsense!  You can’t experiment on these animals concerning their brains and say it’s not cruel.

This led to representatives urging the SEC to investigate.

However, this isn’t the first time questions have arisen over the company, particularly around its animal practices. Reuters reported about a year ago that the U.S. government would look into Neuralink after reports of errors resulting in repeated experiments, with more animals losing their lives as a result.

Now, following a letter from U.S. lawmakers urging the SEC to look into Neuralink’s monkey deaths (reported by Wired last week), Musk denied the allegations of gruesome deaths as a result of the BCI implant.

Business Insider reported that, at The New York Times’ Dealbook conference, Musk said the test monkeys live in “monkey paradise.” He went on to say that the implant set for first-in-human testing never directly caused the death of a monkey. Previously, Musk responded to these claims by saying the company used terminally ill monkeys for early implants, stating that those monkeys died from their illness, not because of the BCI.

The controversial entrepreneur says a USDA inspector said “she has never seen a better animal care facility” following an inspection. “We are the nicest to animals you could possibly be,” Musk said, according to the Business Insider report.

Wired reported that four members of the U.S. House of Representatives alleged that Musk issued false statements around animal safety.

The lawmakers specifically refer to the deaths of 12 macaque monkeys, the animals highlighted by the PCRM. They asked SEC head Gary Gensler to launch a probe into potential securities fraud committed by Musk. The lawmakers say that Musk’s actions could have kept investors in the dark over the potential safety issues with the Neuralink implant.

Furthermore, after 1,500 animals were killed during Neuralink’s testing, there was an investigation that began.

Elon Musk’s Neuralink, a medical device company, is under federal investigation for potential animal-welfare violations amid internal staff complaints that its animal testing is being rushed, causing needless suffering and deaths, according to documents reviewed by Reuters and sources familiar with the investigation and company operations.

Neuralink Corp is developing a brain implant it hopes will help paralyzed people walk again and cure other neurological ailments. The federal investigation, which has not been previously reported, was opened in recent months by the US Department of Agriculture’s inspector general at the request of a federal prosecutor, according to two sources with knowledge of the investigation. The inquiry, one of the sources said, focuses on violations of the Animal Welfare Act, which governs how researchers treat and test some animals.

The investigation has come at a time of growing employee dissent about Neuralink’s animal testing, including complaints that pressure from Musk to accelerate development has resulted in botched experiments, according to a Reuters review of dozens of Neuralink documents and interviews with more than 20 current and former employees. Such failed tests have had to be repeated, increasing the number of animals being tested and killed, the employees say. The company documents include previously unreported messages, audio recordings, emails, presentations and reports.

Furthermore, according to one report, “current and former Neuralink employees say the number of animal deaths is higher than it needs to be for reasons related to Musk’s demands to speed research. ”

Now, do you understand why Musk is the ‘bull in the china shop’ firing Inspector Generals that were investigating him and his company over this?
