Welcome to my Special Report: Inside TikTok Data Security. This is a place NO ONE has ever seen before (including most TikTok employees). In this story you will get to go inside and hear directly from the guy that TikTok has put in charge of keeping your data on the platform safe and you’ll hear from the independent security monitor tasked with making sure TikTok is on the up and up.
But why should you care about the data TikTok has on you? Well, that’s the whole reason why Congress banned the platform last year. They said TikTok is funneling your data to China and said TikTok is beholden to the Chinese Communist Party and that allows China to flood the platform with propaganda (allegations Congress has never publicly proven).
TikTok says Congress does NOT have its facts straight.
This is your opportunity to see the operation and decide for yourself whether what TikTok is doing to protect data is enough. It was not easy to get TikTok to agree to let me in to their state-of-the-art extremely secure data security operation. I have been trying to get them to allow me to report on this for more than a year.
