My letter to Rick, about the “Knowledge of Good and Evil” concept.
Rich, you are probably a kind, caring, and loving human father and in many respects like our Father God in Heaven (guided by the Spirit of Emmanuel God with us). If you and your wife have a son, and he becomes a parodical son decades after his birth, and he commits the act of thieveries, and murder, and if you and your wife are not involved as accomplices in his actions; you are not charged with any of his crimes in court.
Our God the Father loves us VERY MUCH, and God wants us to know the difference between Good and Evil and gives us the strength to choose good over evil. For obvious reasons that I will state later, we humans have to learn about sin in EXPERIENCIAL PRAGMATIC ways (rather than theoretical considerations) in our daily human lives.
Adam was “Alone” (an adverb meaning doing something without anyone’s help or accompaniment). Adam was also “Lonely”, for he felt abandoned or sad due to isolation. He is PERFECT and walking with God in the garden, but he later receives a helpmate or companion (a wife) who together represent the “Masculine and Feminine” nature of God, and if God wasn’t FEMININE, Eve would never exist !!!
You ask, why doesn’t God keep Adam and Eve and the thousands of generations AFTER THEM, perfect in the Garden of Eden? Is God cruel and unloving in allowing sin the come into the world in the first place? Humans kept in a perfect environment WOULD NEVER comprehend, and understand what sin is (but we NEED TO KNOW the mind of God, with no SECRETS hidden from us, made in the image of God).
If God in the Garden of Eden had quoted 100’s of scripture verses like (1) Galatians 5:19-23
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, etc. THESE PERFECT HUMANS IN PARADISE would not understand what is being said, because THEY ARE ALL PERFECT, and the warning seems non-sensical to them. The verse wouldn’t apply to them because God didn’t allow them to sin in the first place, and thereby have the “Knowledge of Good and Evil.
If God in the Garden of Eden had quoted (2) Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 [a]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law”. ALL PERFECT HUMANS in the Garden of Eden would say Emmanuel (God with us), we are already doing all of these good deeds.
All children of God need to know the concept of “Good and Evil” in order to be like God. The problem is that God can’t show them a CD revealing everything they would have done if they had been given “FREE WILL”. In this life we are TOTALLY AWARE that no angel or human has the strength, opportunity, or will to STAY PERFECT; because ONLY a non-created God can stay perfect.
God hates sin, and God’s job is to quarantine sin in hell, never to be experienced in the new heaven and earth. It is against God’s nature to produce and spread what I will call “Spiritual pornography”, revealed in a CD given to every child of God in Paradise; and showing and telling humans what they would have done if God had not INTERVENED.
Our God is not a bad Heavenly God, for allowing his sinful children to learn for themselves what sins are in our earthly pilgrimage. And as I said earlier, an earthly Father isn’t guilty for the sins of their children. We make God a sinner if we accuse GOD of being unjust in giving us a “Free Will”, and be RESPONSIBLE for our actions. For we have learned that humans can’t stay perfect without Divine intervention. This is how God chose to reveal the concept of Good and Evil to ALL OF US, HIS children.
