Four Apocalyptic Horsemen now straining to be released
It’s obvious that trouble is coming to the world. The economic policies of most countries are designed to make people who do nothing more than manage and distribute money richer while people who produce all the goods and services become poorer. This process takes place slowly enough to prevent the hard working people from realizing how it all works. The poor of the world are not only being cheated and getting poorer, they are also getting more numerous. But they are living out of sight in the growing slums and dump heaps around the world.
People are not generally aware of the fact that chronic illnesses have been increasing particularly in our generation. But effective publicity campaigns keep this information out of the public eye so that medical and pharmaceutical companies can continue making more money out of treating disorders. Good health is bad for their business and it’s not in the interests of governments to let their people know how they are failing to promote good health.
Policies for environmental protection in most countries are so ineffective that our air, forests, rivers and seas are suffering from pollution and numerous species are slowly becoming extinct. The changes are so slow we don’t really notice. But we are making so much money exploiting the environment that the health of the natural realm becomes a low priority.
International suspicion, hostility and racial conflicts over natural resources and distribution of wealth and privilege are increasing to the stage where terrorism, civil and international wars are affecting nearly every nation. Remembrance of how devastating previous wars have been now restrains the escalation of current violence. But the more greedy and more desperate for survival people become, the more strained our fragile peace becomes.
The prophet Zechariah and the Apostle John saw visions of four apocalyptic horsemen that were straining to be released – wars, famine, economic woes and disease. They were looking ahead in time into the events of our day. Millions of Christians are consoling themselves by putting their trust in a miraculous supernatural escape. This theory – the pre-tribulation rapture – is far more popular than the survivalist approach to impending threats but can’t possibly be correct for several reasons.
