Ravens (Early) Betting Odds for Next Season
Over the next few months, Ravens fans will be keen to see the team doing some business with trades, free agency, and the draft. It’s normal for fans to want improvements, and the team’s hierarchy will arguably feel the same. Yet, the truth is that this is an elite team with genuine Super Bowl ambitions for next season.
The above statement is not a subjective one, as we know that the Ravens are backed in the betting markets to compete next season. While being among the favorites in sports betting odds does not guarantee success, it is at least an assertion that the Ravens are expected to contend.
Sportsbooks tend to release the next season’s Super Bowl odds the moment the previous Super Bowl ends (sometimes earlier than that), and the upshot for the Ravens is that they have been tagged as third-favorites overall, with odds around +700 if you were wondering. Note, however, that those odds have been taken as an average across numerous major sportsbooks, and some will disagree on the candidacy of each team.
Eagles and Chiefs are in pole position
You can probably guess the two teams placed above the Ravens in the betting markets as things stand – the Eagles and Chiefs occupy the top two spots with all sportsbooks. That’s understandable since the two teams competed in Super Bowl LIX in February. That pair is priced somewhere around +600, so it is only a fine margin above the Ravens.
Right on the shoulder of the Ravens is the Buffalo Bills. A handful of sportsbooks have the Bills marginally ahead of the Ravens, but you can find them at higher odds of +800. All in all, you can consider the Bills and Ravens as co-third favorites. Breathing down the necks of the Bills and Ravens is the Detroit Lions, coming off that spectacular 2024 regular season. +900 is the most commonly quoted price for the Lions to win Super Bowl LX.
There is a bit of a gap to the other teams behind that quintet, which tells us that sportsbooks really believe one of those five will win it all next February at Levi’s Stadium, California. Teams like the San Francisco 49ers, Washington Commanders, and Green Bay Packers shouldn’t be ruled out, but they are found at much higher odds than the five mentioned earlier.
Much can change for the Ravens in the weeks and months ahead
So what does this all tell us at this stage? Everything and nothing. First, the odds will likely change as teams do business in the coming weeks. Secondly, there is always a sense that sportsbooks don’t think outside the box too much when compiling odds for the season ahead – especially at that early stage between the previous Super Bowl and Free Agency. The Chiefs and Eagles competed in Super Bowl LIX, so they are the favorites. The year before, the Chiefs and 49ers were preseason favorites having contested Super Bowl LVIII.
However, bear in mind that sportsbooks don’t write this stuff out on the back of a napkin. They will compile the betting markets based on where they think teams are now and where they think they will be at the start of the season, i.e., by making trades, signing free agents, and so on. And that’s really the bottom line here: fans should be cautiously optimistic that the Ravens are bunched with the main contenders for Super Bowl LX. Yes, that has been the case the last couple of seasons, and the team has still come up short when it matters, and, as we said, sports betting odds don’t win championships, but it is a vote of confidence that the team has a chance to get Lamar Jackson and co back into the promised land.
