Joe Biden Pardons Hunter: An Abuse Of Pardon Authority

Biden The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment. – Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution for the united States of America [Emphasis Mine.]

Readers of the Sons of Liberty Media know this writer supports the Constitution for the united States of America and holds to its original intent. However, this writer has an issue with the power of the President to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the united States. Why? Presidents have historically issued reprieves and pardons to shield family, their cronies, party criminals, and prominent individuals who supported their campaigns from prosecution for actual crimes committed.

The original intent of the power of the president to grant reprieves and pardons was to prevent prosecution of individuals for political reasons. In other words, the president could pardon an individual that was being prosecuted for invented crimes, lawful actions that embarrass the controlling party, and other frivolous and political reasons. Alexander Hamilton, writing in Federalist No. 74, explained the purpose of the power of the pardon authorized to the “Chief Magistrate”. Good examples of political prosecution of invented crimes are the individuals being imprisoned for walking on the ground of Capitol Hill and the building on January 6, 2021, and the persecution of Julian Assange, who published material leaked by inside government sources.

Yet, presidents throughout history have issued reprieves and pardons, not for those targeted for political reasons who did not commit crimes or for treason, but for those who committed actual or potential crimes for the outgoing administration with the knowledge of the administration against the people and the country. It is an abuse and misuse of constitutionally authorized power.

In the latest abuse and misuse of the pardoning power granted to the president by the Constitution, Joe Biden has now pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, for actual crimes committed that would place any other individual in prison. Hunter Biden was convicted on three felony counts relating to his purchase and possession of a firearm while addicted to drugs and pled guilty to nine tax-related charges, including three felonies. He faced 17 years in prison and $1.35 million in fines related to the tax charges and 25 years in prison on the gun-related charges. Hunter Biden was pardoned by his father for offenses Hunter committed or may have committed from January 1, 2014, to December 1, 2024.

Now, the Constitution does not grant Congress or the executive the authority to regulate anything regarding firearms. Yet, American citizens are subjected to these unconstitutional rules and regulations through the unconstitutional ATF, suffering consequences for violation of these unlawful unconstitutional rules and regulations. No pardon has ever been issued for any regular American citizen. No executive order has ever been issued for the unconstitutional ATF to cease enforcing unconstitutional rules and regulations. And, yes, citizens have been prosecuted for improperly completing a form to purchase a firearm.

For citizens who have violated the tax code, inadvertently or intentionally, their property has been taken, exorbitant fines levied, and in some cases, prison terms were imposed. No pardons by any president have ever been issued for regular citizens in tax-related cases.

Be the son of a president or politically connected family and you are awarded a “get out of jail free” card.

But, according to Joe Biden, all the charges against Hunter Biden are purely political. Unfortunately for father and son, a jury didn’t agree with Joe Biden on the gun “felonies” and Hunter pled guilty to the tax-related charges.

According to Rep. Majorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA), “Hunter Biden broke gun laws, he broke the FARA Act, and worst of all, he broke the Mann Act by sex trafficking women across the country. This pardon is Joe Biden’s admission that Hunter is a criminal. Biden tried to throw President Trump’s sons in jail, but he lets his son off free even though he’s a convict. His FBI and DOJ raided Barron’s bedroom and Melania’s closet at Mar-a-Lago. Joe Biden is a liar and a hypocrite, all the way to the end.”

While this writer disagrees that Joe Biden’s pardon of Hunter is an admission that Hunter is a criminal, it is clear the use of the constitutional power to grant reprieves and pardons is being misused and abused by Joe Biden.

Biden has accused the Department of (In)Justice of “bending” to pressure from his political opponents to “attack” him and oppose his election through the prosecution of Hunter. Biden also accused the DOJ of “singling out” Hunter just because Hunter is his son. You can read Joe Biden’s statement for yourself.

Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter. From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted. Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form. Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.

The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election. Then, a carefully negotiated plea deal, agreed to by the Department of Justice, unraveled in the court room – with a number of my political opponents in Congress taking credit for bringing political pressure on the process. Had the plea deal held, it would have been a fair, reasonable resolution of Hunter’s cases.

No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son – and that is wrong. There has been an effort to break Hunter – who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me – and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.

For my entire career I have followed a simple principle: just tell the American people the truth. They’ll be fair-minded. Here’s the truth: I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice – and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision. 

According to Biden’s statement, the lack of aggravating factors “like use in a crime”, while referring to the firearm charges could refer to information as well, Julian Assange should be pardoned and so should “Chelsea” Manning and those charged in relation to the January 6, 2021, freedom of assembly to petition for a redress of grievances regarding election fraud. And, what about all the individuals convicted for growing a plant the government has outlawed outside of its constitutional authority?

Biden has weaponized the entire federal government, including the Department of (In)Justice, against the J6 participants (including grandmothers), Julian Assange, the oil industry, coal industry, etc. But now, Biden accused the Department of (In)Justice of being “weaponized” by his political opponents against his son. Isn’t he the executive that follows the infamous footsteps of all presidents by “ruling” as a tyrant using “executive orders” (another pet peeve of this writer)?

Max (@MaxNordau) stated, “If I were Biden, I’d pardon my son too.”

Well, not all fathers would. In fact, the son of a friend of this writer’s family had criminal charges brought against him. The son decided to flee to avoid prosecution. The father of the son found him and basically, made him turn himself in to face the charges. The son was found guilty and served time. Unfortunately, this writer was not privy to the nature of the charges. Because of the actions of this father, who is a follower of Christ, the son turned his life around after serving his time, dedicated his life to Christ, and started his own moving business, in addition to working a regular job.

Conner Boyack had this to say, “Biden just pardoned his son Hunter. But not Ross Ulbricht. Or Julian Assange. Or anyone that actually deserves it. Nor did he pardon any of the countless Americans convicted of crimes for doing the same things Hunter did. They are faceless victims of the system; he’s the politically connected boy who has a get out of jail free card.”

Biden has continually stated he would not pardon Hunter. Considering that Biden has been known as a “habitual liar” his entire political career, no one should have been surprised he was lying when he stated he wouldn’t pardon Hunter. Of course, he was always going to pardon Hunter – birds of a feather you know. And, one could also say “the family that preys together,…” (intentional).

The constitutionally authorized power of the president to grant pardons and reprieves was never meant to be used as presidents have used it – to shield their family, politically connected friends, those in the administration, and others who have committed crimes. It was meant to shield those who were targeted for prosecution and imprisonment for political reasons and in certain circumstances as Alexander Hamilton outlined in Federalist No. 74. Used properly, the power to grant pardons is essential to stop government abuse against the citizenry and restore tranquility to the country in certain instances. Unfortunately, it has not been used that way, but rather, used to protect individuals connected to presidents and their administrations from prosecution for actual crimes and the turkeys given to the White House at Thanksgiving.

There is not one branch of the government created by the States through the Constitution for the united States of America that has not abused or misused its granted authority – Congress has done it; the Supreme Court has done it; and, the president has done it. The united States is in the position it is in because ungodly, untrustworthy, criminal individuals have occupied seats in government meant to serve the people. Instead, these people serve themselves, corporations, friends, family, politically connected individuals, donors, the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the World Economic Forum, and various other non-government organizations and entities. It leads one to question whether power should be kept by the position because of those who wielded it improperly. At the very least, presidents who misuse and abuse the power of pardons and reprieves should be tried for high crimes and misdemeanors for violating the Constitution.
