Seems the Solar System is entering a major change is the outer space environment. This most likely is a change in the magnetic polarity of the Galactic Electric Current. Why does flaring occur? Consider on moving into a magnetic field reversal there is a null point in the middle of the reversal. Now at that null point current ceases to flow. The field created by the current flowing then collapses into a Super Flare. This is demonstrated by the spark created by turning OFF a switch. The collapsing field wants to maintain the flow creating a high voltage spark which pits and degrades electrical contacts.
