Chicago Bulls receive an important update on a key member of the squad’s status
The Chicago Bulls were amid a five-game losing streak when they finally ended it with their recent 112-99 victory over the LA Clippers.
The Bulls were without one of their key players during the game, with point guard Coby White sidelined due to an ankle injury after coming up a little slow on a scoring drive against the Portland Trailblazers.
The Bulls finally got word on the Whites’ status, with the team having a day off after their game in Los Angeles. The outcome doesn’t sound too optimistic.
Chicago Bulls point guard’s injury status is a mixed bag
According to Bulls insiders for CHSN K.C. Johnson on his X account, White was scheduled to have imaging done on his ankle with the Bulls having a day off in Los Angeles after their game against the Clippers.
“Reported this on @CHSN: Coby White is scheduled to have imaging done on his injured right ankle on Tuesday, the Bulls’ off day in Los Angeles. White is hopeful he won’t miss much time but is favoring his right ankle as he walks. Isn’t wearing a walking boot though.”

If White is to indeed miss some time that will not be good for the Bulls who are 3-7 in their last ten games and have been outscored by their opponents 1,034 to 1,028 in that span. If the Bulls have any hope of turning their season around they will need Whites production and for him to be healthy to do so.
White production is valuable to the Bulls
White is averaging 18.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and is shooting 43.7% from the field in 40 games played this season. During Whites last ten games for the Bulls, before suffering the ankle injury he has been great, averaging 19.4 points, 4.5 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and was shooting 50% from the field and 81% from the free throw line.
Missing Whites production will hurt the Bulls if he’s out for an extended period. Lonzo Ball will be the fill-in point guard for the Bulls until the Whites return. A solid player in his own right when coming off the bench, but with only averaging 6.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists, it’s nowhere near a White level of production.
What happens from here?
Thankfully as Johnson said White was not in a boot so that’s a good sign that he can at least put weight on it.
Hopefully White at the very least has a minor ankle sprain and if that’s the case he will just have to ice and keep as much weight off it as he can till it’s all healed up.
Having the off day today should help tremendously with Whites recovery.
The Bulls are scheduled to take on the Golden State Warriors tomorrow night and hopefully White will be ready to go by tip-off.
