Panic Time? Aaron Glenn Rebuffs Jets “Substantial Offer”
If the Jets intention today was to have Aaron Glenn and Lance Newmark signed on as their new head coach and GM respectively, then things didn’t go as planned. However, if the goal was to break bread and exchange figures, then that got done.
The Jets reportedly made Glenn a “substantial offer” to be the team’s new head coach. However, Glenn left the facility and hopped on Woody Johnson’s private jet to head back to Detroit.
It was reported earlier in the day that the Jets wanted to keep their former star cornerback in the building to get a deal done. Joran Schultz of Fox Sports is reporting that Aaron Glenn has the job if he wants it, but didn’t take it today.
The Jets were hosting both Glenn and Newmark for their second interviews. Throughout the day there were multiple reports claiming a deal may be imminent. Well, that could still be the case depending on how one defines the word. Could it be tomorrow or the next day? Sure. But is it a sure thing? Of that we are not as sure.
Next up for Glenn is a meeting with the New Orleans Saints in a few days. Could New Orleans, out of desperation, swoop in and make a huge offer before sitting down with Glenn? Stranger things have happened, and it would certainly put the Jets in a tough spot.
